We are pleased to announce Maryville Hospital has changed ownership and will remain open as CHICAGO BEHAVIORAL HOSPITAL.
The facility is under a new leadership team, increasing clinical staff, and enhancing clinical approaches to meet the needs of children and adolescents.

At this time, the facility will be operating three distinct units. The three receiving units are the Adolescent Inpatient Unit, the Adolescent Intensive Care Unit, and the specialized mental health unit for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

The Adolescent Treatment Unit provides psychiatric services to higher functioning teens that need 24 hour mental health services and are responsive to the treatment milieu. The program is based on trauma focused cognitive behavior treatment principles. The schedule is highly structured and under the direction of the attending Psychiatrist and the multidiscipline treatment team.

The Adolescent Intensive Care Unit provides intensified treatment for patients needing a very secure environment, with decreased stimulation, shorter group and activity times, and closer staff supervision. ICU patients pose a higher level of active risk to themselves or others. Such cases with active psychosis, out of control behavior, high suicide /self-harm risk, sexual acting out, and other serious behaviors will benefit from the ICU.

Based on mental health status, a patient can be directly admitted to either unit or be transferred between the units throughout the treatment process.

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Unit is for youth who are deaf or hard of hearing and experience emotional or behavioral disorders. Patients may have other learning disabilities, visual impairments or cognitive delays in addition to hearing loss. Youth with other communication challenges, may also be accepted. The DHH Unit is the only program in the State of Illinois serving this population.
