Century 21 Signature Real Estate takes great pride in announcing they have partnered with Orphans of Teso and Children’s Hope Chest in an effort to raise money to buy a goat for each of the orphaned children in Century 21 sponsored villages located in war-torn Uganda. For the past three years, they have sponsored two villages in Uganda, helping to find individuals in the United States willing to help support the children who live in these villages.
Each year, Century 21 Signature Real Estate chooses a different effort to assist their sponsored villages. Last year, for instance, they raised more than $32,000 to help build much needed facilities within the villages. This year, the goal is to raise enough money to provide a goat for each of the 364 orphaned children living in Bukedea and Ogoloi.
While it may seem unconventional to provide a goat to a child, in Uganda, a goat is the equivalent of a savings account. This gift can provide a solid financial foundation for children as they grow up. Because goats are able to produce at a rate of three offspring per year, children can quickly grow a substantial flock, allowing them to sell goats to cover living expenses when necessary. This is a fundamental piece of the Children’s Hope Chest model of Survive, Thrive, and Succeed.
