Epicentre.TV Chief Operating Officer, Luke Campbell, said his company will invest resources and expertise to ensure the World Tour is presented in breathtaking fashion.

Australia’s Epicentre.TV and the Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) have signed a five-year agreement to broadcast the action-packed World Bodyboarding Tour to global audiences, with the ultimate aim to feature all Grand Slam events live on TV by 2018.

This exciting broadcasting deal is a key plank on the APB’s drive to secure a naming rights sponsor for the World Tour and increase prizemoney for each Tour event.

APB Chief Executive, Alex Leon, said the agreement will result in surf and sport fans around the globe seeing the spectacular action of the Tour’s best bodyboard riders taming the world’s best surf breaks.

This year’s world bodyboarding tour commenced at iconic locations such as Pipeline in Hawaii and Teahupoo in Tahiti, and saw one of the best contests ever held at the OpenLIVE Shark Island Challenge. Other stops on the tour include exotic locations such as Brazil, Chile, Portugal, Spain and the Canary Islands.

“I am very excited about the prospect of working with Epicentre.TV and where this partnership will lead our sport into the future,” said Leon.

“This collaboration will provide the APB with huge benefits for global corporate sponsorships and increase our reach by millions around the world. It is a great time for the sport and the industry involved as there will be significant growth in participation rates and commercial sales.

“Bodyboarding features some of the wildest, most courageous and most insane action in sport and we know the partnership with Epicentre.TV will take our coverage to the next level” he added.

Leon said the broadcasting deal will widen the doors to the corporate world.

“We are confident the global broadcast of World Tour events will boost sponsorship revenue streams and lead to the APB securing an overarching principal sponsor for the Tour.

“We want to boost prizemoney and increase the number of events on the World Tour to make professional bodyboarding an appealing and lucrative career path,” he said.

Epicentre.TV Chief Operating Officer, Luke Campbell, said his company will invest resources and expertise to ensure the World Tour is presented in breathtaking fashion.

“We’re excited to work alongside the APB to assist in developing their product and showcasing why bodyboarding is one of the most exciting action sports to watch in the world. We see such a huge opportunity for the APB World Tour to break into the global market” said Campbell.

“In addition to our live broadcasts, we will produce a one hour highlights show at the conclusion of each major event which will feature the best action from each event and also provide an insight into the athletes, the locations and communities that make the sport so special.”

    Epicentre.TV
will also negotiate international broadcast rights on behalf of the APB.

“The Tour is staged in some of the best locations in the world. This imagery combined with the spectacular bodyboard action will present compelling viewing for international broadcast markets,” said Campbell
