Dr. Clemente has proven that opioids are not needed to alleviate even the worst tooth pain or post-surgical procedures.

Matthew J. Clemente DDS made a commitment 10 years ago to become a narcotics free dental office and he has never regretted it since. He is urging his colleagues to do the same and fears that it is not being taken seriously enough. Now he is taking this important message to the streets through Social Media and partnering with local new outlets.

A recent New York Times report stated that, “the current opioid epidemic is the deadliest drug crisis in American history. Overdoses, fueled by opioids, are the leading cause of death for Americans under 50 years old — killing roughly 64,000 people last year, more than guns or car accidents, and doing so at a pace faster than the H.I.V. epidemic did at its peak.” New York State ranks number 13 in the nation for the highest percentage of heroin related deaths according to a recent Times Union report.

The problem begins when a patient has major surgery and is prescribed an opioid. These are powerful and highly addictive drugs. When patients run out of prescriptions they turn to street drugs, mostly heroin. It’s readily available on the street and it’s cheap. That is a dangerous combination. The Capital Region is in trouble.

Dr. Clemente has proven that opioids are not needed to alleviate even the worst tooth pain or post-surgical procedures. He teaches patients how to reduce pain by using ibuprofen and acetaminophen (Advil and Tylenol) in a staggered method that creates a synergistic effect whereby the pain relievers bolster each other’s effectiveness.

The Dental Office of Matthew J. Clemente is actively partnering with news media, medical professionals and educators to get this message out to parents. Teenagers are particularly susceptible to addiction and heroin transference.

Dr. Clemente is available for interviews and appearances as a guest speaker. His PSAs are currently being produced by News Channel 10 ABC. If you’d like to partner or get more information please contact us right away at the phone number or email above. A Media conference is planned for early 2018.
