Avon Lake, Ohio, November 29, 2016: Avon Lake Sheet Metal is pleased to announce that they have completed the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation’s Safety Intervention Grants program and was awarded the maximum $40,000. All the funds went towards the implementation of new cranes on their shop floor.
The purpose of the Safety Intervention Grant program is to gather information on effective workplace safety practices and to share the results with other Ohio employers. This program awards safety grants to employers for the purchase of safety equipment to reduce or eliminate injuries and illnesses in the workplace. The Ohio BWC takes in consideration how much the intervention will advance research to determine the monetary amounts awarded.
Avon Lake Sheet Metal created a case study portraying their business and its issues with the safety of its employees. With the influx of projects, they are in need of better and safer ways for their employees to move heavy materials. Handling heavy materials can strain and sprain different parts of the body. As safety is their priority, they proposed a Gorbel Self-Supported Crane System, an IWI Structural Crane and six Cantilever Jib Cranes in order to allow their employees to handle heavy materials safely and efficiently. Their detailed research and measurement showcased in their case study satisfied the obligations for BWC’s Safety Grants program, resulting in a $40,000 reward.
