For this reason, they launched the new Realtor Safety Pledge website and are encouraging all real estate agents, as well as brokers and the general public, to take the pledge. This pledge encourages safe showing practices and responsible behaviors for all involved in the real estate process.
With the increasing number of real estate agents who have been abducted and murdered, it’s more important than ever for everyone to remain vigilant and take as many precautions as possible. This new pledge campaign launched by Century 21 Signature Real Estate is designed to bring more attention to this growing problem and encourage real estate agents, brokers, neighbors and everyone else involved to take the proper safety precautions and to keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior in the name of saving lives. The primary goal of this pledge is to open communication about this problem and to begin developing the appropriate actions to put a stop to the issue.
Pledge founder, Dylan de Bruin, stated, “I don’t have a daughter. But if I did, I would never want her to meet a stranger in an empty home for the commission value of any sale. If we, as an industry, do not recognize that we are allowing someone else’s daughters to step into these dangerous situations by the practices and standards that we propagate, and don’t work actively to make changes to this reality, then I believe we are complicit in the inevitable and costly result. Let’s make a change.” He hopes this campaign will elicit changes in the current real estate practices that help keep everyone safe without impacting their ability to make sales.
