CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Aesthetic Ceramics), is counted as one of the biggest innovations in dentistry in recent years. It has revolutionised the way in which we pursue the creation and the installation of dental restorations, from crowns to dental implants, and beyond.
Aided by modern computers, CAD/CAM programes, and a 3D printer, this technology has greatly reduced the amount of time needed to produce dental restorations. The key to this technology is the way in which it combines incredible precision with portable, site-based production. By keeping all the production in-house at the dental surgery, such bits and pieces are no longer sent away to a lab to be created offsite – they are created ‘chairside’, often within an hour, and can be implanted immediately.
The ceramic, non-metallic materials that are used to create the new installation are tough, hard-wearing, and come with none of the complications commonly associated with metallic fillings. With the shorter wait time, a patient is often sorted out in only one visit – a far cry from early days, when one was obliged to have a ‘pressing’, or a mould created, to be sent away, and installed at a later visit, while wearing a temporary patch.
No waiting times, no unreliable temporary fillings, just a perfect ceramic implant ready to go, every time. For a closer look, contact your local dentists in Castle Hill at Hills Dental Care
