Coaching Actuaries is a big supporter of Math Motivators, a program from The Actuarial Foundation that’s designed to enhance math education for underserved students in grades 3 to 12. This program makes a tremendous impact for students who lack access to equitable resources.
In the 2022–2023 school year, for example, the program served more than 1,500 students and was supported by 500 volunteer tutors and almost 100 companies. Notably, this vibrant community of volunteer tutors includes our own coaches! During the same school year, over 10 of our coaches contributed their time and expertise as volunteer tutors.
We have long supported Math Motivators, and this year, we’re deepening our connection by making a year-end donation to their amazing efforts. We’re happy to support Math Motivators as they continue to make a meaningful difference in the world.
Why do we love Math Motivators?
Math Motivators operates according to a 2:1 model, meaning two students are paired with one dedicated tutor. This ensures both students are well-supported in their learning and receive high-quality tutoring that increases their proficiency in math.
The program offers both virtual and in-person tutoring and specifically focuses on students who face financial barriers. Students who benefit from the program are diverse, with approximately 70% identifying as Black or Latino/Latina.
Coaching Actuaries is committed to sharing our passion for improving students’ confidence and skills in math. Math Motivators is doing fantastic work toward this goal, and we’re proud to support them.
We encourage you to support Math Motivators as well, whether as a volunteer, by spreading the word, or with a donation. Learn more about Math Motivators.
