Nancy Lorince of ComForCare Home Care extended an invitation to all interested parties for the event, which was hosted by Care One East Brunswick and ComForCare Home Care on June 21, 2016, from 11:00 AM until 3:15 PM.
All attending parties were served lunch. Social workers and nurses who attended were also awarded with three continuing education units. In addition to healthcare professionals, this event was open to anyone interested in learning more about the best approaches to working with dementia patients.
The workshop covered all of the major caretaking practices for dementia patients, which included but were not limited to preventing difficult dementia behavior, different types of dementia and their care needs, surprising sensory changes in dementia, how dementia complicates pain management, delirium and dementia, drugs that can make dementia worse and working with challenging dementia families.
