Since its institution in the year 2001, the Florida Institute for Health Innovation has dedicated themselves to providing improved public health services to the state and fostering healthy communities. It has done through new health policies that built programs and other resources to strengthen the state’s health-based infrastructure. Throughout FIHI’s early years, its staff worked with the Palm Beach community to figure out what they wanted and needed with regard to their health services, educating them on health reform and how it could benefit their communities, oral health, health innovation and trying to improve workforce prospects. Over time, its focus broadened from the Palm Beach area to the state at large, as well as the entire southeastern United States.
In the year 2014, FIHI sought to rebrand themselves. In the process, they erected three facilities: Research, Evaluation and Training; Health in All Policies; and Collective Impact for Healthy Communities. However, they haven’t lost sight of their main focus, which is to educate Floridians on their health and strengthen the health care they can expect to receive within their communities. They also educate citizens on Florida health and climate change. FIHI plans to continue working in cooperation with their sister foundations to improve public health across the entire United States.
