Michigan Industrial Shoe (MIS) is excited to announce their acquisition of Great Lakes Industrial Shoe (GLIS). This acquisition became effective July 1, 2014.
GLIS has a total of three shoe mobiles and a retail outlet located in Akron, OH. Their current president, Tom Girolami, will be retiring from the company. Mike Girolami, president of MIS, will also serve as president of GLIS. Linda Petty, controller at MIS, stated, “We wish Tom Girolami a long and healthy retirement. He has built a wonderful shoe company over the 34 years and we plan to build on his success.”
All GLIS employees will be allowed to remain in their current positions, with the exception of a few changes. Other changes include Chris Cater will be promoted from district sales manager at MIS to general manager at GLIS. He commented, “I’m looking forward to growing the sales base at GLIS. We have a great staff at GLIS and they are ready for the new computer systems.” For more than 50 years, Michigan Industrial Shoe has made people happy at work, one step at a time.
