Cleaning your home when spring springs upon us is a rite of passage for millions of Australians. You want your home to look its best over the summer, and it is a great opportunity to clean out some of the rubbish that you have accumulated over the course of the year.
Your security doors and screens deserve similar treatment. While stainless steel security screens are very tough, salt deposits and grime can accumulate in their meshing, potentially dulling their aesthetic. Luckily, solving this issue is not difficult.
Most security screen firms offer specialised cleaning solutions or waxes, similar to car waxes. Used properly, they can remove any built up deposits that could be dulling the look of your screens. According to Gold Coast’s experts at Central Glass, here’s how to go about it.
First, using a soft bristle brush and your manufacturers cleaning solution, wipe down the screen. Pay special attention to any areas of discolouration, or featuring white salt stains – very common in coastal areas. These should be removable with a light scrubbing. Do the same to the tracks and runners, being careful not to get soapy water in to the locking mechanism.
Second, replace your soapy water with clean, fresh product, and thoroughly rinse the screen down, paying special attention to the fittings. By doing so once annually, you can ensure that your security screen looks its best while it keeps you safe.
